July 6: Women in Fish: 1pm Kwisitis Visitors Centre Theatre, Pacifc Rim National Park ReserveThe severe decimation of the West Coast fishing industry over the past ten years has had an immediate and life-threatening impact on many women who supported their family through fishing with their husbands and by working in the canneries. Women in Fish is a deeply personal journey, it’s also a revelation into a community deeply distressed and it is unflinching in its response to the near-death of a West Coast tradition and source of livelihood for First Nations, Aboriginal, and many European settlers who all relied on the fishing industry.

Known for his intimate, warm and entertaining performances, an evening with Barney Bentall makes for a truly fine audience experience. Barney opens a window on the life of one of Canada’s finest singer/songwriters, giving listeners a glimpse of where life as taken him these past few years. 2010 JUNO nominated Jaffa Road is an acclaimed Toronto based world music group made up of some of Canada’s most exciting and innovative interpreters of inter-cultural music. Their music creates a unique sonic landscape that draws organically from the worlds of Jewish music, Classical Arabic and Indian music, modern jazz, electronica, rock, pop, and dub.

Having produced over 50 new works, Ballet Victoria is starting its tenth year with 5 world premieres. The artistic team is exploring new territory.
